Not trying to stir up problems, yet I think we all have the right to give our opinions on if we lose a race to a organization that will only run once a year. Please do not take this wrong. I am for any and every group who wants to support this sport and what we all do. Yet they have been offered 3 other days in 3 other months and have declined all of them. These dates that were given do not conflict with SRCA points races.

The date (September 11th 2010) in question is the final points race leading to or in other words before the ET Finals. This points race determines many factors such as final points list, team roster, race of champions participants, final tech procedures/cards ALL of which is required by NHRA for ANY track that wants to attend. This date has been used by SRCA for at least 7 years for the reasons stated above. Moving this date to early in the year or into October kills the ET Finals for SRCA and NHRA policies/procedures for that event.

It sounds like to me that there is no way to give up that date without severely hurting all the regular racers at SRCA. Surely the other group has SOME other weekend available. If not, they should have checked with SRCA before making all final decisions on their other activities. What month or weekend do they usually schedule this event? (in past years) Good luck in making a decision that will benefit everyone. (Glad its not my job)

to set the record right from the start, the track was approached in JUNE of this year, way over a year in advance of the scheduled race and only sept 2010 dates were requested before any plans were started and NOBODY WOULD commit or had the authority to commit, and when working with NATIONAL organizations they need commitments at least one year in advance, since nobody would or could. THE SHELBY OWNERS OF AMERICA IN CONJUNCTION WITH STANG MAFIA AND BVM PERFORMANCE had to commit with some of their NATIONAL SPONSORS or loose the chance to bring a NATIONAL EVENT to our fine city and great race track, and for some of our sponsors only a SEPT DATE WILL WORK and to ge the BIG FORD RACING TRAILERS AND VENDORS it has to be a off weekend for NHRA...... there are other communities and organizations vying for a venue of this type and size, guys you might not realize it but there are over 36,000 + 2006-2010 SHEBLY OWNERS not counting the vintage car owners out there, plus the MUSTANG OWNERS who have been coming to BROCKS previous events, this is not or will be a show like that has been here before we have a peferct location right in the middle of the US, a great race track, a great city and we need to promote it!! with the economy the way it is GREAT BEND CAN USE ALL OF OUR HELP!!! if we dont get this race here it will go somewhere else and we won't get another chance...for one of this size................ use it or loose it RANDY FRY STANG MAFIA EVENT CHAIR www.stangmafia.com/forum/index.php

Rich it was my understanding that the list for the ET finals list had to be to NHRA by the first of Sept so the race in question is after that and up until a few years ago there wasnt even a race on the weekend before that.
by the way how many cars will be comming to this event I heard somewhere around 400 thats more then any bracket race you run.

Darin Reinert (aka sthu) The list that you are talking about is the points list, that had to be in by Sept 8th. This is only the list for NHRA to make sure that all participants had been entered at the said track they would like to run for, not the final roster, alternate or race of champions list which had to be in by the 15th at 5pm. The reasoning for this by NHRA is for exactly what happened in the last 36 hours. 1 participant had a engine failure and the other had a death in the family and are unable to go, so alternates had to be contacted and added to NHRA's lists. All of this would be impossible 30 days prior to a ET Finals event. You probably heard 400 from Brock or Randy since you were sitting in the same meeting. Granted 400 is larger than 1 bracket race number, but not larger than the 1,300 or so points racer entries that have supported their bracket program to date. Rich

TO ALL THE FINE RACERS AT SRCA DRAGSTRIP,REGARDING THE SEPT. RACE SCHEDULE,UNTIL NHRA DECIDES TO MOVE THE ET FINALS FROM THEIR SEPT SCHEDULE,WE WILL CONTINUE TO PLAN OUR RACE SCHEDULE TO MATCH NHRA,OUR RACERS THAT HAVE BEEN ACCRUING POINTS AND ARE ABLE TO ATTEND THE ET FINALS WILL BE PROUDLY REPRESENTING SRCA.AT MENTIONED ABOVE,UNTIL NHRA MOVES THEIR ET FINAL SCHEDULE,WE WILL NOT CHANGE OURS. THERE IS NO REASON AT THIS TIME TO CONSIDER A CHANGE REGARDLESS OF THE PROMISES MADE BY THE FORD CLUB/S. OTHER DATES HAVE BEEN OFFERED TO THEM AND AS THE SRCA HOLDS THE DIV5 RACE PER THE NHRA SCHEDULE,SRCA IS OBLIGATED
