Hey everybody,
I built a 468 pump gas engine for our Son's 72 Rally Nova and he has decided now that he wants to put this 427 Small Block I just finished in his car.....so even though it's something I hardly ever do I will sell it because at this time I don't have the extra space to store it or a vehicle worthy of a piece like this.
It's broken in on our own run stand here at home and had the break in oil drained and I removed and cut the filter open looking for anything that should not be in the oil and it's perfectly clean ( we ran Royal Purple Break In oil and a Wix racing filter )
This engine is a GM 1970's era 2pc rear seal 4 bolt main HP high Nickle Block that's been line bored and decked and honed to a 468 by my Machine Shop guy in Grand Island NE. Before he got it from me I Clearanced it for up to a 496 rotating Assy. As well as went through the oil return galley and de burred and smoothed out any casting flaws that slow down oil return to the cam area under the intake.
The Bottom end is a "New" Forged Steel GM crank (standard bearing size)
"New"Standard GM Dimple Rods with the 7/16" rod bolts. Installed with Clevite "H" series bearings in both,
It has a set of New KB Hypereutectic 9:1 pistons, Total Seal File Fit Rings, and a New Melling Oil Pump with pick up welded in.
It has a set of Brodix Race Rite Rectangular Port Aluminum Heads that I have about 40 hours of my own labor in they are port matched to the 4150 Holley Strip Dominator intake that is on it. I don't have access to a flow bench any longer but I know they flow WAY BETTER THAN of the shelf and the valves seat right. They have the Brodix Roller Rocker arms on 7/16" ARP rocker studs with comp cams push rod guide plates. Howard's 3/8" diameter 210° tip custom length push rods and Howard's self oiling flat tappet lifters on a Custom Ground Howard's Billet Steel Cam......I will of course include lash settings and cam card to the person who buys the engine and I can assure you alot of time and effort went into the design of this Flat Tappet Mechanical Cam....it is no off the shelf bump stick....The Guy who ground the Cam is one of my best friends and he is very protective over his work if you know what I mean.
Anyway the heads are topped off with stamped chrome Chevrolet Tall Valve covers, a stamped steel Chevrolet timing cover is covering a Cloyes Tru Roller multi keyway Timing set.
We ran this engine with a Q series Quick Fuel 850 DP race carb for the break in period and the Engine absolutely loved it....it is designed to run great on a 750 to 850 Cfm carb depending on the fuel you want to run.....if Race Fuel like VP 110 octane I would run an 850 cfm carb but if your going to run pump gas you should run a 750 DP carb and fatten up the jets a bit but before I get off track we used all ARP fasteners where we could because like I said this was built for our son to run in his 72 Rally Nova 4 speed car so you can see I wanted no Junk but wanted it to be quick enough to run 10.90s to 11.0 range in that heavy all steel original Nova (and they are not light cars with factory glass and seats plus the added weight of sub frame connectors and 6 point Roll cage)
I am not looking to make a killing here just to get it out of the way before winter and I tear it partially down to store it so while I can't offer a warranty cause I have no idea how you will treat it I can Sell it at a decent Price.
I will take the first $4000.00 CASH that's put in my hands. If you want me to hold it you send me half the cash ($2000.00) in a postal service money order only and you will have 30 days to come get it with the other $2000.00 and it's all yours.
It comes minus Carb, Distributor, Water Pump and Starter but I will include a neutral balance SFI Flex Plate for an automatic trans.
This engine is internally Balanced and each part of the rotating and valve train assy was hand fit by me and I have been building my own Drag/HotRod/Street Engines since the early 70's and have never had one go bad due to something I did wrong or didn't pay enough attention to.
Send me a message here and I will get back to You a.s.a.p..........
Thanks,
